Abstract

"Choose to Lead, Be a Star"---In this keynote speech, Richard Liu, the CEO of Leap.ai will share stories from his personal experience on how to tackle the TOP 5 career challenges in Silicon Valley, especially for Asians and Asian Americans. He will cover a wide range of topics including language barriers, communication skills, taking initivatives, conflict resolution and helping out each other.

In the second of the talk, Dr. Liu and Dr. Zhou will share their journey of founding and growing Leap.ai from ideation, team formation, to culture cultivation, initial customer and user acquisition, what worked, to what did not work and the technical challenges they are tackling at Leap.ai.

Dr. Richard Liu is the co-founder and CEO at Leap.ai, a startup on building a digital career companion to empower people to leap to their dream career. Before started Leap.ai in 2016, he was an Engineering Director at Google. He was a key leader in a wide range of product areas from Enterprise Search, Shopping, Offers to Project Fi. Richard is also a partner in Tsingyuan Ventures.

Dr. Yunkai Zhou is the co-founder and CTO at Leap.ai, a technical executive and entrepreneur. He has worked in companies from technical giants like Microsoft and Google to late stage startups like Sumo Logic, as well as an early stage startup he helped found. In Google, he spent nearly 10 years in Search Ads / AdWords, and has led projects across infrastructure, machine learning, and UI. Yunkai’s passion for using technology to solve real business problems led him to co-found Leap.ai.

Abstract

Cambia's cause is to transform healthcare by creating a person-focused, economically sustainable system. From understanding unstructured data in online chat to analyzing customer call recordings in building an AI bot, the Cambia AI Office has built many applications with augmented intelligence that vastly improved the consumer experience in health care.

Speaker

Lin Chen is a Software Engineer focusing on Data Science. Lin currently is the Director of Engineering, Artificial Intelligence at Cambia Health Solutions. He is leading a team of engineers and scientists to build AI applications in healthcare. Lin is an exGoogler, he worked in Google’s Ads and Cloud Machine Learning team. Prior Google, Lin worked in a Big Data startup Intellius.com, built a people record linkage system. Lin participated in a text analytics startup doing opinion mining. Lin has a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science focusing on Natural Language Processing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and he has a master and a bachelor degree in computational linguistics from Tsinghua University.

陈林(Lin Chen)是一位专注于数据科学的软件工程师,他目前是Cambia Health Solution人工智能工程总监,领导一个由工程师和科学家组成的团队来创建专注医疗保健方面的AI应用。Cambia之前,陈林在Google的广告和云机器学习团队工作过;在谷歌之前,他任职于大数据创业公司Intellius.com工作,建立了一个人员记录联动系统。除此之外,陈先生还参加过一家进行意见挖掘的文本分析创业公司。陈林拥有来自伊利诺斯大学芝加哥分校的计算机科学专业在NLP方向的博士学位,以及清华大学计算语言学硕士和本科学位。

张溪梦 CEO创始⼈,前LinkedIn商业分析部⾼级总监。曾任职于若⼲知名企业并领导其数据分析部⻔。包括 LinkedIn,eBay, 以及美国零售商Petco,爱普⽣等互联⽹及企业软件公司。在LinkedIn期间带领数据分析和数据科学团队, 直接⽀撑 LinkedIn 公司所有与营收相关的业务。曾经被美国Data Science Central评选为“世界前⼗位前沿数据科学家”。张溪梦先⽣拥有⼯商管理MBA学位。

  • 叶玎玎 CTO,联合创始⼈

叶玎玎 CTO联合创始⼈,连续创业者,Ruby 社区负责⼈,企业协同软件⻛⻋的创始⼈。毕业后曾在Intridea 就职,负责企业协作平台Presently/Socialspring的软件架构和项⽬管理。他是中国RubyConf的讲师和联合组织者,也是⽬前国内程序员领域#1的播客节⽬Teahour.F的联合主持⼈。叶玎玎先⽣毕业于浙江⼤学计算机科学与技术专业,获 得学⼠学位。

  • 刘绍波 产品VP,联合创始⼈

刘绍波 产品VP联合创始⼈,负责公司产品及机器学习。2015 年前在硅⾕从事数据分析及机器学习领域的⼯作,先后服务过宝信、eBay 和 LinkedIn。2015 年回国创业,创立国内首个基于机器学习的人岗匹配系统,在半年多的时间⾥公司被IntSig收购,后在IntSig担任副总裁,主要负责B2B产品线,包括B2B精准营销和商业搜索的产品和业务。绍波毕业于东华⼤学,拥有计算机硕⼠学位。

  • Gu Xuemei, Vice President, Alibaba Group

Xuemei Gu is currently the head of Alimama (Alibaba Group's ads business unit), which contribute over 50% of Alibaba Group's total revenue. Before that she was the head of Search division for two years, focusing on search and recommendation technology and products. Xuemei worked for Google Inc for 10 years in Networking Infrastructure and Knowledge Graph, and served as Google Beijing site lead for 3 years. She graduated from school of computer science of Carnegie Mellon University with master degree.

  • Yaoyun Shi, Chief Scientist of Quantum Technologies, Alibaba Cloud

Yaoyun Shi is building an international team at Alibaba to realize the potential of quantum information technologies. Yaoyun received his Bachelor's degree from Peking University in 1997, and his Ph.D. from Princeton in 2001 under Andrew C.-C. Yao's supervision. He was then a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech's Institute for Quantum Information. He has been on University of Michigan's faculty since then, most recently as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. For almost two decades, Yaoyun has been researching quantum information science, aiming to discover the ultimate information processing power endowed by Mother Nature.

Yaoyun Shi will share his personal experience of researching quantum computation at Alibaba as well as the Group’s vision for elevating its capabilities for fundamental and disruptive research.

  • Yiqun Cai, Vice President, Alibaba Group

Yiqun Cai is a Vice President at Alibaba Group. He is responsible for the development and operation of the global networking platform and infrastructures. Before joining Alibaba Group, he was a Microsoft Partner in Windows Azure networking team, and prior to that, a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco Systems. He co-authored multiple Internet RFCs and holds many US patents in the area of computer networking. He graduated with an MSc degree from the University of Alberta in Canada and BSc degree from Fudan University in Shanghai.

  • Peter Bailis, Assistant Professor, Stanford University

Peter Bailis is an assistant professor of Computer Science at Stanford University. Peter's research in the Future Data Systems group and DAWN project focuses on the design and implementation of post-database data-intensive systems. He is the recipient of the ACM SIGMOD Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award, an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, a Berkeley Fellowship for Graduate Study, best-of-conference citations for research appearing in both SIGMOD and VLDB, and the CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award. He received a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in 2015 and an A.B. from Harvard College in 2011, both in Computer Science.

Abstract

In this talk, Dr. Tao Cheng will talk about how Pinterest welcomes a new user with a highly personalized homefeed with awesome Pins, rendered seconds after a user signs up. He will walk us through the journey from a largely English/US only experience, to a high quality, localized experience for new users around the globe. Pinterest grew from less than 100M MAUs in 2015 to more than 175M MAUs in 2017, with more than half of those from outside US.

Speaker

Tao Cheng is an engineering manager at Pinterest, spearheading the homefeed recommendations team. His team is in charge of all sorts of recommendation sources to homefeed, ranging from leveraging explicit user signals such as followed topics, users, to implicit signals learned from users’ engagement with Pinterest. Previously, Tao was a researcher at Microsoft Research, Redmond, WA. Tao got his PhD in CS from UIUC, specializing in web search and data mining.
