Talk 1: 苏宁机器学习平台

苏宁是中国最大的零售服务企业,服务用户3个亿,拥有着云商、置业、投资、金控、体育和文创等六大产业。

苏宁机器学习平台MLaaS部署在在苏宁云计算和大数据平台上,基于Spark开源平台,包括常用的分类、聚类、推荐、模式提取等模型,新增丰富的特征提取、统计检验方法,并且还特别加入了时间序列、自然语言处理等板块。本次将介绍机器学习平台算法拓展以及分享在苏宁服务案例。

Talk 2: Buddy AI 人工智能自动客服系统技术分享

过去十年,深度机器学习在自然语言处理与理解领域都取得了显著的技术突破,这也使得聊天机器人近几年来在学术界和工业界都获得了极大的关注与发展。在实际的企业客服使用场景中,人工智能自动问答系统需要在企业已有知识库的基础之上,准确地对用户的询问进行意图检测与自动回答。Buddy AI致力于构建下一代面向企业的知识理解和交互技术,人工智能自动客服问答系统是核心产品之一。

本次讲座旨在和大家交流智能客服领域的机会与挑战,并分享Buddy AI在研发该系统的过程中所使用的语义理解,知识图谱构建,答案选择和自主学习等相关技术,以及LSTM和CNN等常见深度神经网络在实际部署产品中的使用经验。

Speaker

Chen Zhang is the CTO of JD.com, in charge of driving R&D growth in big data and cloud computing, as well as technical support for the daily operation of JD Mall. Chen has over 20 years of experience in software development and management.

Prior to joining JD.com, he worked at Yahoo for 18 years, at one point responsible for the development of Yahoo Messenger and more recently heading the global research and development center at Yahoo Beijing. Before that, he worked in DEC and Oracle Corporation as head of technology.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Indiana University Bloomington.

Talk 1: Key Innovations and Usage Scenarios of Transwarp Data Hub (Transwarp)

Big data technology is rapidly changing the IT industry in China. Among those technologies, Hadoop is the best-known one and keeps growing its popularity. Transwarp Data Hub (shortened to TDH) has been one of the mainstream Hadoop distribution recognized by Gartner since 2016.  As a one-stop big data platform, TDH has many new cutting-edge technologies which revolutionarily improve the usability, performance and stability so that enterprise can build core business system and create new applications in a more cost-saving and effort-saving manner.  This topic will talk about the technical innovations of TDH, and also brief introduce the usage scenarios for those technique.

Apache DistributedLog (incubating) is a low-latency, high-throughput replicated log service. Sijie Guo shares how Twitter has used DistributedLog as the real-time data foundation in production for years, supporting services like distributed databases, pub-sub messaging, and real-time stream computing and delivering more than 1.5 trillion (17 PB) events per day.

Speaker Bio

  • Yuanhao Sun, Founder & CTO of Transwarp

Yuanhao Sun graduated from Nanjing University majored in Computer Science and joined Intel in 2003. Before starting Transwarp, he worked as CTO of Data Center Software Division of Intel Asia-Pacific Research and Development Center in charge of the development and commercialization of Intel's enterprise Hadoop.

Yuanhao left Intel in 2013 to start Transwarp which focus on high-efficiency computing engine and data analysis algorithms on Apache Hadoop. Yuanhao was the founder of Intel's enterprise Hadoop. He led the team to make multiple improvements and enhancements to meet different industry’s needs. Yuanhao and his team made great contribution to big data development in China with hundreds of successful Big Data use cases.

  • Wanggen Liu, Director of Transwarp

Wanggen is the R&D director of Transwarp, and responsible for the engineering and production of TDH. He joined Transwarp in 2013 and led the effort of bringing SQL and transactions into TDH; before that he was a chip architecture in NVIDIA and focused on GPU SM performance. He has rich engineering experience in distributed computation, compiler technology and computer architecture.

  • Sijie Guo, Messaging Group TL of Twitter

Sijie (github.com/sijie) is the tech lead of Twitter’s Messaging group, and he is the cocreator of Apache DistributedLog and the PMC chair of Apache BookKeeper as well.

Abstract

The presentation will use MYNT sDeno robot (“小觅机器人”) as an example, to discuss the market and applications of service robot, a sector predicted to grow to $80 billion USD by 2020. sDeno was rated by Bloomberg as the “cutest service robot” when it was introduced at CES 2016, and later on won numerous rewards. It has been deployed at places including Forbidden City as sales assistant, receptionist at company front desk, and tour guide at exhibitions. The talk will be given by Dr. Leo Pang, the Founder and CEO of Slightech, an AI powered smart hardware and robot startup in Silicon Valley, which also has offices in Beijing and Wuxi.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Linyong Pang is the co-founder and CEO of Slightech, and has 14 start-up experience, management, entrepreneur in Sillicon Valley. He had founed 4 companies, and 1 NSQDAQ IPO. 2 of his companies were sold. Dr. Pang has 31 patents, 25 pending patents, 65 papers published in journals and conferences.

Dr. Pang has graduated from Mechanical Engineer in University of Science and Technology of China. And graduated from Mechnical and Computer Science in Stanford university. He served as the chairman in Stanford CSSA in 1997.

Abstract

Vicarious AI is an artificial intelligence core technology R&D startup based in Silicon Valley, USA. Vicarious approaches AI with a very unique brain-inspired strategy, drawing inspirations from neuroscience and cognitive science and combining them with modern computational modeling techniques such as probabilistic graphical models (PGM). In this talk, we will present Vicarious' recent papers on generative shape models and hierarchical feature learning. We will discuss our performance on public text recognition benchmarks and show how to outperform deep learning using 6000 times less amount of training data.

Xinghua Lou, Ph.D., is Head of Commercialization at Vicarious AI. Xinghua is a veteran machine learning researcher and practitioner. He has published in many renowned venues such as NIPS, ICML, CVPR, MIT Press, and has won the best paper award in 2012 Machine Learning for Medical Imaging.
